About the Campaign

Introducing the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign

Pull together for a greener environment

The Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign showcases activities dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. We think it's time to form a bigger picture out of our isolated efforts to inspire change. The focus is on spreading best practice in sustainable energy technology, build alliances and inspire new energy ideas and actions.

The Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign began in 2005. Its latest phase (2009-2011) has come to an end on 31 December 2011. The new phase of the Campaign will concentrate on its main activity, namely the EU Sustainable Energy Week, including its Energy Days, and the annual Sustainable Energy Awards Competition.

More than 250 new projects have joined the Awards Competition annually in the past years and the Sustainable Energy Week attracted 720 events in 2011. Sign up and apply for the Awards Competition 2012 or organise an Energy Day in your city or region during the EUSEW, which will take place between 18 and 22 June 2012.

Background - Why join? - EUSEW 2012

Is your project eligible?

Do you manage a brilliant project with great results? Don't keep it to yourself! If energy efficiency and renewable energy matter to you, Sustainable Energy Europe is where you can share your expertise with others and showcase your initiative.

To take part in the Awards Competition, your project must match the following selection criteria:

Your project must make a significant and proven contribution to the EU 2020 objectives with regards to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. You would need to present concrete facts and figures explaining how your project will generate energy savings and/or increase the use of renewable energy sources regardless of the size of your project.

Your projects should be an outstanding example in its area. It is not enough for your project to simply fulfil official requirements in relation to energy efficiency and/or renewable energy sources. Rather, it should represent excellence in its respective field.

Your project should be replicable. Your project should be replicable to a different context so that others may benefit from your experience.

The main promoter of your project must be based in Europe. With main promoter we mean the organisation(s) responsible for the project.

Research and Demonstration (R&D) projects and products are not eligible. This is a campaign to collect and showcase outstanding projects with proven results and a high replication potential. It is not the right place for projects which develop, test or demonstrate novel and untried approaches or technologies. Projects are time-bound activities to achieve a predetermined outcome – products are not.

By joining this European movement, you put your project in the spotlight and let others profit from your experience. Any Looking for inspiration? Check out the animating stories of the 2011 Awards winners.
